Laboratory technician


IMDEA Water is a non-profit research Institute, promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid, to carry out research in water technologies. The European Social Fund will co-finance partly the contracts formalized from this call within the Thematic Objective 10 "Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and lifelong learning"

 

The technician will participate in the Nat4Health project "Antibiotics, hormones, persistent and mobile organic contaminants and pathogens, the complex mixture in agriculture and livestock scenario. Risk to health or natural attenuation?" (Ref.:  PID2020-118521RB-I00) funded by MCIN/ AEI /10.13039/501100011033, with the aim of identifying and quantifying contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in environmental samples (water, soil, stool, plant and air).

The main tasks include:  

  • Optimization of sample treatments methods based on solid phase extraction (SPE), solid-liquid extraction, etc. to carry out the determination of CECs in environmental and biological samples.
  • Physico-chemical and microbiological analysis in water and soil samples. 
  • Management of Liquid Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS), Ionic Chromatography and UV-Vis spectrometry techniques. Data processing. 
  • ­Validation of the analysis methods. 
  • Literature search and desing of workflows in methodology development.
  • Writing SOPs for the implementation of laboratory and analysis results reports.
Requirements
  • Be in possession of a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences and related areas. Minimum: MECES 2 EQF Level 6
  • Demonstrable previous experience in environmental sample treatment (SPE, SLE, etc.) and in Liquid Chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry techniques preferably for the detection and quantification of CECs.
  • Experience in physico-chemical analysis in water and soil, and microbiological assays in water.
  • Knowledge about ISO regulations and experience in working under quality system
  • Resolutive ability to design and carry out a work plan.

Selection Criteria
  • CV (suitability of the profile to the open position): education, experience, etc.
  • Knowledge of software (Sciex and Agilent), ISO 9001 
  • Those candidates with the highest score can be called for an online interview to evaluate their knowledge and attitudes related to the open position.
Conditions
  • Employment contract full-time: 37.5 hours/week
  • Annual gross salary: 21.000 €
  • Incorporation date: January 1st,  2022
  • Contract period: 24 months.
