Assessment of the environmental distribution and risks of microplastics
IMDEA Water is a non-profit research Institute, promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid, to carry out research in water technologies. This Institute is part of the IMDEA network, the institutional framework that combines support from both the public and private sectors and harmonizes research with market demand, strengthening the presence of the private sector in science.

The European Social Fund will co-finance partly the contracts formalized from this call within the Thematic Objective 10 "Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and lifelong learning".

A research assistant is requested who will work in the Ecotoxicology research group and will have the following functions:
- Writting reports on the environmental distribution of microplastics, with emphasis on agricultural soils.
- Drafting of reports on the accumulation of microplastics in aquatic organisms.
- Ecotoxicological tests with microplastics and aquatic species.
The hired person will collaborate in the “μNanoCare: Quantification of micronanoplastics in reclaimed water and agricultural ecosystems. Environmenal risk assessment”, financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, “Retos Colaboración 2019” call (RTC2019-007261-5).
- Bachelor's degree in: biology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering, agronomic engineering, chemistry or similar.
- Master or similar for access to the doctorate (EQF Level 7 or MECES 3).
- Experience in writing scientific articles in the area of ecotoxicology.
- Previous experience, at least 3 years, in the environmental monitoring of microplastics.
- High English level.

Employment contract full-time: 37.5 hours/week
Annual gross salary: 20.000 - 23.000 €
Incorporation date: January 1st, 2021
Contract period: 6 months.
