Senior Laboratory Technician: “Development of methodologies for the analysis of Micronanoplastics”
IMDEA Water is a non-profit research Institute, promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid, to carry out research in water technologies. This call is to hire a senior laboratory technician for “The development of analytical methods for the analysis of micronanoplastics (MNPs)”. This contract is funded with funds from State Public Employment Service, managed by the Community of Madrid, within the framework of the “Young Researchers Program”.
The person hired will work in the Micronanoplastic Analysis Unit, within the Research and Development area of the Chemical Analysis Service. This work will help promoting the development of methodologies for the characterization, identification and quantification of MNPs in environmental samples, also optimizing previous sample and extraction treatments. Specific analysis techniques will be used, such as pyrolysis coupled to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, infrared microscopy coupled to RAMAN and a field flow fractionation system.
In addition, he/she will participate in the dissemination of research results (such as the preparation of scientific articles and the presentation of communications at congresses and conferences), as well as in outreach activities, such as the European Researchers' Night in Madrid, the Madrid Fair It's Science and Science and Innovation Week, among other events.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a qualification accrediting Degree in Chemical Sciences or related sciences, with a Master's Degree (EQF Level 7. MECES 3). (In the case of being in possession of a foreign academic qualification, the corresponding credential of homologation to the equivalent qualification in Spain, issued by the competent body for the recognition of foreign educational qualifications and diplomas in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, must be available).
- The person hired must be a young person aged 16 or over and under 30 years old.
- They must be registered as an unemployed job seeker in one of the employment offices of the National Employment System at the time the contract begins.

- Cover letter (Spanish or English) presenting her/his candidacy and merits, and including her/his personal motivation.
- Adequacy between academic training and research programme
- Specific studies related to the subject to be developed
- Those candidates with the best profile may be summoned for an interview.
Employment contract full-time: 37.5 hours/week
Annual gross salary: 24.480 €
Aproximate incorporation date: February 2025
Recrutiment modality: contract for scientific-technical activities under article 23-bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation. A period of 1 year is foreseen for the performance of the work covered by the contract.
