Postdoctoral researcher in water economics and institutional analysis
IMDEA Water is a non-profit research Institute, promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid, to carry out research in water technologies. This Institute is part of the IMDEA network, the institutional framework that combines support from both the public and private sectors and harmonizes research with market demand, strengthening the presence of the private sector in science.
It complies with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
A Research position has been opened to the Horizon EU research and innovation project Water4All European PartnershipWater Security for the Planet. This project is funded by the European Union's HORIZONTE EUROPE research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 101060874.
As part of this role, the selected candidate is expected to fulfil the following functions:
- Independent management of his/her own research program agreed with the coordinator of the team.
- Conduct advanced research in water economics and institutional analysis using appropriate methods and techniques.
- Contribute to the preparation of high-quality scientific reports and publications.
- Take part in activities to develop collaborative research with other research teams at the IMDEA Water Institute.
- Develop relevant external networks and contacts for future collaboration and funding opportunities and collaborate in the preparation of research and innovation projects.
- Prepare and coordinate international meetings associated with research projects, scientific outreach activities, and other lines of work.
The Economic and Institutional Analysis Group at the IMDEA Water Institute works closely with the Environmental Economics Research Group at the University of Alcalá (UAH Environmental Economics Research Group) on international research projects.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- PhD in Economics, Environmental economics or areas related to the management of natural resources. EQF Level 8 (MECES 4)
- Relevant experience in the field of water economics.
- Relevant scientific publications in the above mentioned research fields.
- Minimum English proficiency of C1 and Spanish proficiency of B2 (if certification is not available, this can be substituted with demonstrated experience in English or Spanish speaking research centres, a personal interview in both languages, and the requirement to obtain the respective certification before the end of the first year of employment at IMDEA Water).

Employment contract full-time: 37.5 hours/week.
Annual gross salary: 35.500 €
Approximate incorporation date: March 2024.
Contractual modality: Indefinite according to article 23 bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation.
